Description

This is the famous Cocoon Nebula.
Nothing special you would say, but not for me.
This is a picture taken on three different nights. Not special enough?
It's also from a telescope from a double setup! Yes, that makes it special (at least to me).

I set up my 8" Newtonian and the QHY294MM along with my 130PDS Newtonian and the ZWO294MC on my good old EQ6-R.
So far so good and with some amazement, balancing was easy and buttery smooth. No problem for the EQ6-R.

Next step is bringing the tubes parallel. This was very difficult because the 8" is fix connected with a losmandy plate which is itself firmly connected to another losmandy plate. On the second one is a vixen dovetail clamp to hold the 130PDS (otherwise it's impossible to mount the duo alone). Unfortunately there is no room for changes in the alignment. Any helpful advice would be greatly appreciated
A quick check with an eyepiece (yes I found one from early days) indicated that the field of the 130PDS is big enough to cover (but not center) the object centered in the 8" though. But I am still looking for a solution for this!
The last step before the first light is the most difficult. Aligning the spider arms of the two scopes. I guess you can do this only by the eye (on daylight) and do the final step by imaging a star. To make a long story short, this is still on my list

Now, some of you may be wondering, "Where is the final HaRGB image here?".
Well, that's another story of freezing cold nights along with an Allan key, tears on my keyboard during post-processing and.... more to follow!

Take care out there!
Mike

Edit: I've added two starless versions created with starnet++ and APP (beta). I declare starnet++ the clear winner but see yourselve with the mouseover
